Auguste The Label

Auguste The Label is a boutique Australian brand dreamt up by Byron Bay native Ebony Eagles. Ebony started Auguste with a clear vision: to transcend trends, and instead design future vintage pieces that would be loved for seasons to come.

A nod to nostalgia with a contemporary twist, each range is crafted from luxe fabrics and vintage-inspired floral in effortlessly elegant silhouettes. From easy Sundays by the sea to nights exploring the wearer’s favourite city, Auguste’s dreamy dresses and stand-out separates were made for making memories in.

A proud member of the 1% For The Planet movement, the label is built on a foundation of environmental consciousness, with the core belief that all fashion businesses should play a part in designing the best version of the future.

The fact that you've found your way here shows you care - even just a little - about where your money goes. And so you should. We all should! In a world where consumers are faced with so much choice - it's important to put your dollars into businesses who do their best to leave the earth how they found it (or better). Money is an exchange of energy, and putting your energy in the right places can create a revolution.

The She Lives Free Community is the part of Auguste The Label that is about more than just the clothes - it's about coming together to create positive change and a place where Auguste The Label can be transparent on our journey to improving our environmental and ethical processes. We know we're not perfect - but we believe in honesty, in recognising room for improvement and in actively taking those steps towards creating a more sustainable business - and very importantly, raising as much awareness as we can in the process. Twelve years in the fashion Industry has been an amazing journey - one where I've learnt so much that I wouldn't trade for anything. However, in an industry that is based on consumption, it's important to me to align with some core values:

Auguste The Label has partnered with 1% For The Planet, an amazing initiative which 1% of our gross earnings go to two charities very close to Ebony's heart (The Orangutan Land Trust & The Marine Conservation Society) We've also recently partnered with Borneo Orangutan Survival Australia. To help spread awareness on how BOS Australia are working to protect orangutans from extinction, we created the 90 Days Of Change Campaign. Every day, for 90 days, Auguste The Label is adopting an orangutan on behalf of an online customer. On top of this, we have also designed a BOS Australia Charity Tote Bag - where 100% of the value goes to BOS Australia!

Auguste The Label is designed in our Byron HQ by Ebony and her design team. We currently produce in Bali (Indonesia) and Guangzhou (China).

Bali is the backbone of our business and we are so grateful to the beautiful team we have there! Having lived in Bali for 10 years, Ebony enjoys travelling back and forth to meet with the Bali Team every collection to ensure production is running smoothly.

Our main focus of 2017 is to work with factories that have SEDEX or WRAP accreditation. We have achieved this goal and are ecstatic to announce that over 75% of our clothing is manufactured in accredited factories. By the end of the year, we hope to have this at 100%.

Each Auguste The Label collection consists of both rayons and cottons, and we never stray far from either. As cotton and rayon are derived from plants, they are both biodegradable.

All of our printed fabrics that are produced in Indonesia are printed in Jakarta. The water used is recycled 7 times before going into a public waste water system - it’s so clean there’s fish swimming in it!

We here at Auguste The Label know it's not just about the bottom dollar - it's about minimising your impact all the way through.
The following areas are the ones Auguste The Label is focused on improving:

Studies show that sea freight is less damaging for the environment in terms of CO2e in comparison to air freight.

From 2017 we will be striving to ship 50% of our production by air, and 50% by sea. By 2019 we would like to be shipping 100% by sea. Due to the incredible physics of flight, planes have to be constricted to a certain kind of fuel to ensure passenger safety which is why they have higher gas emissions. Sea freight has a much wider variety of more sustainable fuels that can be used, which significantly reduces their carbon emissions.

What aren’t the benefits of biodegradable bags!? Along with taking less time to break down in landfill and requiring less energy to produce, they also do not produce harmful chemicals when they break down. 100% of our production and garments are packed in biodegradable bags.

We can do our best to deliver your Auguste The Label piece in a way that does the least damage possible to the environment - then we ask that you use plant based detergent or wash powder and wash your pieces by hand or with a cold machine wash!

We think it's so important to practice what you preach! The culture at Auguste The Label HQ is something that has evolved very naturally and we know just how lucky we are for that. We've come to realise that what we've discovered is something special - something we will nourish as the Auguste The Label Family grows!

We use Who Gives A Crap toilet paper. We bring our own lunches to work or buy it from Santos Wholefoods round the corner. We encourage each other to shop locally and consume mindfully. Our HQ is solar powered too (and arguably so are we - you don’t want to catch us when it's been raining for days!)
